Bells over river Arno

Coming home from class
in feburary late afternoon
Bells are ringing
over river Arno.

The sky is all orange
and the river blue
glimmering with exultant flakes
of million diamonds all spilled out
over river Arno.

Snow capped mountains
like a cool fresh mint
sit in the distance
over river Arno.

A bell chimes and echoes
lightly
calling out other ringings
and soon they all sing together
in their own tunes and pitches
as I walk over river Arno.

The town vibrates
rich silk satin dress
resonating,
I stop and turn around
over river Arno.

Two tourists walk pass by
in a hurry
not to disturb my recordings
bowing a little below camera
over river Arno.

The old cafe owner
who once gruntled at us
for late night coffee
neck bundled up in scarf
bikes home for dinner
over river Arno.

The bell towers
touch the sky
celebrating joy and beauty
of this bright wintry afternoon
and I too, let myself enjoy
all that were offered
over river Arno.
